Grendel's Mother

So, one of the world's best bands, The Mountain Goats, has a song that I think the Beowulf loving members of this club should hear. I haven't read John Gardner's Grendel, but I guess this is probably the musical equivalent.

There are some strange references in the song: "from here all the way to Singapore." But I think it's a pretty great song when it comes to sympathizing with Grendel's Mother, who I've always thought wasn't such a monster, just an angry mother.

Novel Generator

I'm sure there are more, but here is one of the novel generators that I mentioned in the meeting tonight. This (the first that came up on a google search) writes erotic short stories. Apparently, it works by using pre-written sentences in which the "writer" inserts (teehee) descriptions and, I think, settings. Or something. I can't try it out since it doesn't download on macs.

so i stumbled into this piece the other day and it brought up a range of emotions for me. mostly because im catholic and i think i knew this girl. not this girl, but a girl just like her that came to school with a band-aid on her cheek and neck. anywawy, if you are offended by things that are offensive, then you will be offended by this. but, please, tell me, is this art or is this just trash?
